WORDS OF WELCOME
PASSING THE PEACE
Relationship is the cornerstone of shalom.
All things are in relationship with one another.
Before we worship together, let us extend the hand of
Christ’s peace.
PRELUDE
*CALL TO WORSHIP Lay Leader
One: Friends, we gather to worship God.
May we come with eyes to see, ears to hear, and hands happy to care in God’s way.
Many: Here we are again!
One: Back where we belong.
Many: At home in the circle of love.
One: At home in the (ever expanding) circle of love.
*OPENING HYMN #427 “God Made from One Blood”
SCRIPTURE READING
Psalm 1 (Pg. 489 in the OT section)
UNISON PRAYER
Very often, O God, we think all that makes sense and all that should really concern us are our needs and ambitions. And despite all good intention, years of church going, community service and prayer - we confess, even lament our inability to see past our own noses when it really counts. Forgive us, O Holy One. May we find a renewed capacity to be a people of equality, hospitality, goodness and grace.
Moment of Silence
Lay leader: From many differing places we come; contrasting ages, cultures, histories, opinions, and even beliefs. Yet, we surely belong to one another in the peace and unity of God. In that peace we seek to plant our roots that we might be made whole, healed and forgiven.
ALL: Thanks be to God!
