Music is an integral part of RBCC's ministry.
We offer a wide variety of musical talent and opportunities within worship, and to our community. From singers, to instrumentalists, to ensembles, all with varying levels of experience! There is an opportunity for everyone! Our choir meets weekly during the school year and performs during worship and special events. We often feature soloists, guitarists, string ensembles, pianists, our bell choir, and many others. We also have a wonderful new concert series that has just begun its second season.
Hosted by Richmond Beach Congregational Church, this series of hour-long recitals is a showcase of exceptional local talent, spanning genres from classical to contemporary, from bluegrass to tango, from piano quintet to barbershop. How do I join the choir?
Our choir does not require that you be able to read music (though it is helpful!) and no prior experience is necessary. Katie would be happy to talk with you about potential choir membership.
How can I participate in music during streaming services?
Email Katie! She can help you find a song that fits your instrument, coordinate schedules with other musicians, and find a way to participate that works best for you.
How are the hymns and songs chosen for each service?
Our choir director consults with other worship leaders to select hymns and songs based on the upcoming themes and scripture readings. Hymn choices are based on a number of criteria:
- Appropriate text to match the theme and flow of the service
- A mixture of familiar and new pieces, as well as traditional and contemporary styles
- Singability for the congregation
- Copyright availability for streaming services
